Two SWAT team officers cross through a side street across Route 5 from the the Brookside Motel in Saco. The ordeal was initially thought to be a hostage situation, so the Saco Police Department called in multiple agencies for assistance, including Maine State Police, Old Orchard Beach police, the Saco Fire Department and a Wells police officer with a tracking dog.
Two members of the state police tactical team cross through the backyard of a home across Ocean Park Road (Route 5) from the Brookside Motel. Because a section of the road in front of the motel was closed, the public was not in any danger, says Jack Clements, Saco’s deputy police chief.
Officers converge outside the motel room where occupants refused to come out moments after the standoff ended at the Brookside Motel.
