Hood has served his entire 21-year career in Troop D, both as a patrol officer and sergeant, and will oversee 22 troopers. Hood replaces Lt. Aaron Hayden, who is assuming the command of the Truck Weights section of the State Police. From left, angler Bob Randall, left, of Lyman, and workers Randy Heath and Matthieu Aubuchon haul carts to shacks Wednesday at Baker's Smelt Camps. Aubuchon and Heath were restocking the camps with firewood while Randall was arriving to jig up some of the sea-run fish with friends. "Fishing has been great," the camp's owner, Richard Pottle said of mid-season conditions. "We have 16 to 18 inches of ice and plan to take reservations through mid-March." Baker's Smelt Camps has been offering anglers shelter for 43 years on the Kennebec River in Pittston.
