Molloy Wicwire removes weeds Monday from a flower garden at the Vaughan Homestead in Hallowell. Wicwire and other members of the Kennebec Valley Garden Club were sprucing up plots around the community ahead of the Gardens of the Hallowell Area tour to be held Saturday July 13 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. The club has prepared eight gardens and some pocket gardens in the city. Tickets may be purchased through Saturday at DR Struck, Alden Longfellows, Longfellows Greenhouse, and Berry & Berry Floral.

Parade Grand Marshall Travis Mills waves Thursday with a prosthetic hand and jokes with spectators about having forgotten to bring the other arm during the annual Independence Day parade on State Street in Augusta.
