    Forest rangers load clips for their newly issued pistols with bullets during training Monday in Augusta. All state forest rangers are being qualified on the use of guns over the next three weeks by the state police firearms training unit to enable them to carry guns in the field while on duty. The wilderness firefighters who also regulate logging were authorized to carry weapons by the Legislature last year, over a veto by then Gov. Paul LePage, concluding a debate that started in the 1990s.
