    The grave marker for War of 1812 veteran Waterman Stanley sits cracked and on the ground Thursday in Glenside Cemetery in Winthrop. Sexton Steve Kennedy said that Stanley's and others stones weren't vandalized but, have leaned and fallen over because of frost heaves over the decades.

    People use the Kennebec River Rail Trail Wednesday, near its northern terminus in Augusta's Waterfront Park. The trail currently runs from downtown Augusta through Hallowell and Farmingdale to Gardiner. There is a proposal to create the Merrymeeting Trail, which would connect the Kennebec River Trail to a system in Topsham.
