The 150-year-old North Chesterville Baptist Church is undergoing restoration and members were hard at work on Sunday. A new roof, painting inside and out and the bell tower are being restored, according to member Caroline Tibbetts, at left. Painting are her great-grandchildren Wyatt and Avery Oiliver and their mother Crystal Oliver.

Saturday events include a bean hole supper, a pig scramble and horses competing in barrel racing and pulling events. There are also midway rides and games. The fair runs through Sunday at 5 p.m. and the fairgrounds on Academy Road in Monmouth.

Dance Unlimited performs during AugustaFest on Saturday on Front Street in Augusta. There was a car show, food booths and other musical acts on the banks of the Kennebec River. During the afternoon shots echoed from across river as Fort Western hosts a French and Indian War encampment and then fireworks postponed from July 4 were scheduled to cap the downtown celebration.
