    CAP.cutline_standalone:Michael Beardsley, a hydrological technician for the U.S. Geological Survey, runs a remote control boat while Gregory Stewart, a USGS data section chief, brings a full sized boat into shore on Tuesday in the Kennebec River at the Gardiner boat launch. Stewart said that several staffers were there to get annual boat operator certification on full sized boats, but they also got a chance to try out the smaller one too. It can be used to carry an acoustic Doppler current profiler that measures the flow in a river, according to Stewart.
