The body of a child reported missing Sunday afternoon in St. Albans has been found.

Somerset County Sheriff Dale Lancaster said the body of the 4-year-old boy was recovered at about 7 p.m. in a man-made pond on a property off Ballard Road.

The boy’s body was found in water that was 15 feet deep, Lancaster said, and the man-made pond is about 100 yards from the boy’s home.

The boy was reported missing at about 4:20 p.m.

State police with a tracking dog, sheriff’s deputies and game wardens took part in the search of the area where the child was reported missing.

A broadcast from the Somerset County Regional Communications Center said the boy had blond hair and blue eyes and weighed about 50 pounds. He was last seen at about 2 p.m., according to the broadcast. He was wearing a Spider-Man T-shirt, orange or red shorts, and white shoes.
