My 3-year old daughter spends a lot of time at Hallowell’s new Vaughan Field park and playground at the site of the old elementary school.

On a recent visit, she admired tadpoles in the muddy reeds, rode her tricycle on the newly paved parking lot, kicked the soccer ball around the grassy field and made new friends on the playground.

Many of my neighbors and city councilors worked to establish the park well before she was born. They created something beautiful for current Hallowell residents and left a lasting legacy for our children.

I can’t help but feel proud of our community whenever I go to the new park and playground, and I want to say thanks for making Hallowell an even better place to live and raise a family.
