CHINA — The Planning Board is to hold a 7 p.m. public hearing Tuesday in the Town Office on Central Maine Power Co.’s planned expansion of its power line through China.

The line runs the length of the town, abutting approximately 100 properties.

The power company has acquired land to widen its right of way to accommodate a third row of poles to hold a new 325-kilovolt line.

After the hearing, board members plan to continue review of sections of the town ordinance dealing with home occupations. They do not intend to act on the power line application Tuesday evening. An August decision is likely.

If the application is approved, power company representatives said preliminary clearing will probably start this fall. The tentative completion date for the new line is January 2014.
