While I understand the concept that our elected leaders in Washington need to compromise to pass legislation, and our democracy works only when two sides come together, I cannot comprehend why it is always the Democrats who fold.

I was a proud supporter of Barack Obama; put up signs on my lawn, put the “Yes We Can” bumper sticker on my car. The reason I used to be a proud Democrat was because the party’s platform was based on standing up for the working class and protecting our citizens who could not protect themselves.

I believed that things could actually change. I have never been so wrong or naive. Obama and the rest of the Democrats have proven themselves time and time again that they are no different from the rest of politicians in Washington. They care only about themselves.

Nowadays, the only ones they stand up for is big business, Wall Street and whomever writes the biggest check to protect their political hides. How much does it cost to have a view heard? Much more than most people I know will earn in a lifetime.

In the next election, I won’t vote for anyone who currently holds political office. I would rather write in my 87-year-old grandmother for Congress or the presidency than vote for any of those cash leeches who run things now.
