CHINA — Monday’s selectmen’s meeting will begin after two public hearings scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in the Town Office. The first hearing is on amendments to the appendices to the town’s general assistance ordinance, changing the maximum allowable assistance in different categories.
The second is on two proposed Nov. 8 local ballot questions. The first asks voters to approve amendments to the definitions pertaining to floodplain management as required by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
The second ballot requests an appropriation of up to $7,500 from surplus to continue the work of the Comprehensive Plan Implementation Committee and the Thurston Park II Committee as they seek to implement parts of the 2008 comprehensive plan. Money would be spent only with the selectmen’s approval.
Because of Columbus Day, the Town Office and transfer station will be closed Monday.
