Paul Douin (letter, Oct. 18) wanted facts, so here they are.
President George W. Bush got us into two wars that were never paid for (fact and debt). Then there was the housing crunch, where people lost their homes (fact) and then the Bush administration made it so easy for companies to go overseas, with our jobs, hundreds of thousands of people lost their jobs (fact).
President Barack Obama is trying to put Americans back to work. The American Jobs Act would have done that (fact). But the Republicans/tea partiers in Congress and Senate voted no (fact). Then they say Americans need jobs (fact). What a bunch of hypocrites.
So of course Americans are no better off. It took eight years for the Bush administration to get us into this mess, and Republicans expect Obama to get us out of this mess in three years?
A right-wing radio talk show host said President Obama was worse for America than 9/11(fact).
A 96-year-old woman went to vote in a special election in Tennessee. She was not allowed to vote because she did not have her marriage license with her (fact).
Republicans and tea partiers are trying to surpress the vote, by making it harder for the elderly, poor, blacks, Hispanics, Asians and Latinos. I watch C-Span and the news; that’s where I get my facts.
All of you widows, bring your birth certificate and your marriage license with you when you go to vote in 2012. If you were born Mary Jones and your married name is Mary Smith, you may have a problem voting, since Smith does not appear on your birth certificate.
