FARMINGTON — The seventh annual Maurer Meals will be Friday, Oct. 14 and Saturday, Oct. 15, at eleven locally owned restaurants throughout western Maine. Participating restaurants will offer special menus featuring locally grown food products, including organic and all-natural foods. Money raised will benefit the Justin A. Maurer Memorial Scholarship Fund, for a third- or fourth-year University of Maine at Farmington student enrolled in the Community Health Education Program.

FAIRFIELD — Absentee voting begins Oct. 7, for the Nov. 8 election. The Town Clerks Office is open 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 1:30-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. The office will also be open 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 1:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, for the purposes of voter registration and absentee voting.
