WEST FORKS PLANTATION — State police and Maine Warden Service spokesmen said this afternoon that searchers have recovered the body of a local woman missing since the weekend.

Edith Smith, spokeswoman for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife, confirmed the body was that of Donna Gail Bulmer, 52, originally from Weeks Mills, but most recently a selectman and tax assessor for West Forks.

Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safey, said state troopers and detectives currently are on scene completing the investigation.

Information on how and where Bulmer died is not yet available.

McCausland said the woman’s body was found in the woods. He described her as having been despondent.

Peter Dostie, owner of the Hawk’s Nest Lodge in West Forks, said Bulmer disappeared late Friday or early Saturday.
