FAIRFIELD – Shaun Carroll rushed for a game-high 192 yards and a touchdown and the Lawrence football team ended a few years of playoff futility with a 28-13 victory over Messalonskee in a Pine Tree Conference Class A semifinal game at Keyes Field on Friday night.

Spencer Carey rushed for a score and caught a 35-yard touchdown pass from Alex Leathers for top-seeded Lawrence (10-0) as well.

The Bulldogs, who had lost their last two home playoff games, are back in the PTC A final for the first time since 2007.

Lawrence will host No. 2 Bangor (9-1) on Friday, also at Keyes Field.

Sam Dexter caught a 51-yard touchdown pass and returned a kickoff 79 yards for a score to lead No. 4 Messalonskee (6-4).

Lawrence broke open a 7-7 game with a pair of third quarter touchdowns.
