AUGUSTA — Police are searching for a masked man who may have assaulted another person Wednesday in an attempt to steal prescription drugs.

Augusta Police Lt. Christopher Massey said officers were called to a Drew Street apartment about 11 a.m. for a report of a break-in. The man was reportedly wearing a ski mask and possibly had a BB gun, Massey said.

The masked man demanded prescription medication, which he was not given, Massey said. He then fled on foot.

“The victim alleges he was assaulted,” Massey said.

“He declined any medical treatment.”

Several police officers searched the area around Western Avenue but were unable to find the masked man, Massey said.

The man, wearing a black ski mask and a jacket, was described being thin and about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, Massey said.

Police asked that anyone with information about the incident to contact them at 626-2370.
