STANDISH — Ashley Geel scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the St. Joseph’s to a 65-27 win over Thomas in a non-conference women’s basketball game Wednesday night.
Megan McDevitt scored 11 points for the winners while teamate Lindsay Moore scored 10. Cony graduate Mackenzie Dufour scored four potins to go with four steals and two assists.
St. Joe’s is 3-1 while Thomas falls to 0-3.
Bates 84, UMF 46: Bates’ 50-20 first-half blitz helped the Bobcats roll to a victory over the Beavers in non-conference action Dearborn Gymnasium.
Allie Beaulieu led all scorers with 22 points for Bates (2-1) while Meredith Kelly chipped in with 15 points.
UMF (1-4) was led by Lindsay Ranquist with 14 points and Emma Morrison with 13.
Men’s basketball
Colby 73, Fisher 51: Ben Foreman scored 20 points, including four 3-pointers as the Mules gave new head coach Damien Strahorn his first win as Colby men’s coach in Boston on Tuesday.
Gordon Fischer added 10 points and seven rebounds, while Kyle Donovan had nine points, four steals, seven rebounds and five assists for the Mules (1-2).
Bates 72, Thomas 63: The Bobcats rallied from 12 points down in the second half on their way to a non-conference win over Thomas in Lewiston on Tuesday.
Bill Selmon had 15 points, 11 in the second half for Bates (2-2).
Mark Brust added 10 points and Luke Matarazzo had seven assists, seven points, six rebounds and two steals.
Jarrad DeVaugh scored a game-high 29 points for the Terriers (2-2) to surpass the 1,000-point plateau. Franklin Salvador added 17 points and eight rebounds.
