WATERVILLE — The Waterville Public Library will soon be able to make its collection of archival materials on Waterville’s history available to the public online and in the newly renovated building.
Due to funding from the Waterville Public Library’s Capital Campaign, the Library has been able to fund the work necessary for the effort, formally known as the Waterville History Project.
The project aims to make it possible for patrons to search the history of their city and its inhabitants that had previously been stored in the Library’s attic. During the renovation, storage space was created in the Library’s Maine History Room, which will be used to store the items.
Once active, links to the online archive will be found at watervillelibrary.org. Grant funding from the Maine Historical Society will enable the Library to have a selection of the items available in an online exhibit on the Maine Memory Network’s collection of online local history.
The Maine Memory Network’s web address is mainememory.net.
