NEWPORT — Andrew Cartwright scored a game-high 18 points as the Nokomis boys basketball team beat Waterville 55-43 in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B game on Tuesday.
Ruel Libby added 11 points for Nokomis (1-1) while Ethan Pearl and Devin Chambers scored 10 apiece.
Waterville (1-1) was led by Maxwell Brown with 12 points and Chris Hale with 11.
Leavitt 66, Winslow 55: Jordan Hersom scored 17 points as the Hornets beat the Black Raiders in a KVAC B game.
Tim Dow added 14 points and Tyler Watson 11 for Leavitt (2-0).
Justin Murray had 18 points for Winslow (1-1).
Hampden 72, Skowhegan 43: Zach Gilpin had 21 points as the Broncos beat the Indians in a KVAC A game in Skowhegan.
Christan McCue and Fred Knight both added nine points for Hampden Academy (2-0).
Levi Barnes had 20 points and Aren LeBrun 10 for Skowhegan (0-2).
Bangor 47, Messalonskee 31: Nick Sherwood and Robbie Brookies each scored 11 points to lead the host Rams to the KVAC A win. Bangor is 1-1.
Elijah Steele and Gage Landry each scored six points for Messalonskee (0-2).
Lewiston 56, Erskine 49: Josh Thomas had 21 points as the Blue Devils beat the Eagles in a KVAC A game in South China.
Donne Agossou added 13 points for Lewiston (2-0).
Devin Duncan had 14 points, while Tyler Belanger added 12 points and six rebounds for Erskine (1-1).
Valley 53, Greenville 50: Josh West scored 21 points to lead the Cavaliers to the East-West Conference win in Greenville.
Carrington Miller added 18 points for Valley (2-0). Joe Pelletier scored 12 points for Greenville.
