FARMINGDALE — Sam Shepherd had six blocks and Hall-Dale had 16 steals as defense led the Bulldogs to a 48-40 win over St. Dominic in Mountain Valley Conference boys basketball action Thursday.
Austin Bechard led Hall-Dale (4-1) with 13 points and Brad Shepherd added 11.
The Saints (2-3) were led by Zak Johnson with a game-high 15 points.
Maranacook 54, MCI 34: Seth Miller scored a game-high 17 points, including 11 in the second half, as the Black Bears pulled away for the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B win in Pittsfield.
Taylor Wilbur added 13 points for Maranacook (3-2).
Adam Ogden, Trey Vintinner, Kael McCarthy and Mitchell Hallee each scored seven points for MCI (0-5).
Gardiner 48, Waterville 38: Senior Matt Hall had 14 points and hauled in 11 rebounds to lead the host Tigers to the KVAC B win.
Alonzo Connor added nine points, nine rebounds and four steals for Gardiner (4-1) while Jake Palmer chipped in with nine points.
Waterville (2-3) was led by Josh Gormley with 13 points and JT Michaud with eight.
Hampden 52, Messalonskee 41: Fred Knight had 17 points as the Broncos won the KVAC A game in Oakland.
Zach Gilpin added 16 and Christian McCue 11 for Hampden (5-0).
Travis Stacey, Riley Wentworth and Elijah Steele each had nine points for Messalonskee (0-5).
Nokomis 78, Oak Hill 40: The Warriors pulled away in the second half en route to the KVAC B win in Wales.
Andrew Cartwright led the winners with 18 points, including four 3-pointers, while teammate Ethan Pearl added 17 and Spencer Hartsgrove 12.
Sam Morin paced Oak Hill with 20 points while Derek Gamage and Kelsey Lamothe eaach grabbed eight rebounds. Nokomis is 4-1, Oak Hill is 0-5.
Mt. Abram 44, Monmouth 40: Tyler Hupper scored 12 points as the Roadrunners won in Monmouth.
Ian James added 10 points for Mt. Abram (2-2).
Brandon Goff had 15 points for Monmouth (2-3).
Mt. Blue 66, Oxford Hills 47: Nick Hilton had 10 points as the Cougars won in Farmington.
Eric Berry added nine points for Mt. Blue (3-2).
Josh McDonald had 10 points for Oxford Hills (1-4).
