SOUTH CHINA–Erskine Academy’s Dirigo Chapter of the National Honor Society recently held a formal candle lighting ceremony to induct 22 new members.
Conducting the ceremony were class of 2012 members Brenden Wood, chapter president, who presented opening remarks; treasurer Nathan Burns; secretary Bethany Bernhardt; vice president Nicholas Kothman; Emily Wood; and Hannah Peabody. Ellie French played piano music.
Each inductee was introduced while a list of their achievements was read by a current member. Inductees signed the member book, lit a candle and received their certificates, membership cards, and pins.
New members include senior students Tyler Belanger; Nathaniel Britten; Victoria Butler; Raven Carlezon; Ashlee-Marie Crowell-Smith; Andrew Foster; Patrick Meunier; Abigail Peabody; Amy Phillips; Emily Smithson; Alivia Spicer; and Sierra Tjelmeland; and Hallee Breton; Emily Dutton; Lydia Fletcher; Alyssa Gartley; Marissa Jordan; Grace Kilian; Katherine Newcombe; Jeffrey Pulver; Robert Soohey; and Stephen Soohey, all junior students.
