A truck was destroyed about 5 a.m. Friday after the driver sensed the transmission was struggling and stopped, according to Joe Labbe, a volunteer firefighter with the China Village Fire Department. He said the vehicle caught fire after the driver stepped out of it at the intersection of Route 3 and Dirigo Road in China.The driver, who was not identified, was not injured, Labbe said.
