LEWISTON — Lewiston police say they have arrested a 14-year-old boy they accuse of stealing an 11-year-old girl’s purse.

Sgt. Brian O’Malley says the boy robbed the girl shortly after 1 p.m. Sunday on Walnut Street.

Police tell the Sun Journal the boy took the girl’s purse which contained a small amount of cash.

The boy was found a short time later in the downtown Lewiston area.

He was charged with robbery and taken to Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland.

No names were released.
