CASTINE — The University of Maine at Farmington finally wrapped up a victory over Maine Maritime Academy, after three weeks and a second meeting between the two teams, on Tuesday night.
The Beavers overcame a 12-point deficit to earn a 60-58 win over the Mariners in a game that started on Jan. 10. A power outage force the game to be suspended with 1:01 left in the first half and MMA winning 27-22.
Kenni Norton scored a game-high 17 points for UMF (7-11, 6-6 in the North Atlantic Conference). She also had six rebounds, four steals and three assists. Paige Saunders chipped in with 16 points.
Casey McClosey scored 15 points and Sam Goda 14 for MMA (9-9, 6-6 in the conference).
Southern Maine 73, Colby 67: Jil Vaughan had 21 points and 10 rebounds, but the Mules lost to the Huskies in Gorham.
Waterville graduate Jen Nale added 15 points, including five 3-pointers for Colby (13-5). Aarika Ritchie added 10 points, while Cony High School graduate Rachael Mack finished with nine points, five rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks.
Haley Jordan scored 23 points of USM (16-4) to lead all scorers. Nicole Garland added 18 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
Men’s basketball
Bowdoin 94, Thomas 83: Will Hanley had 22 points and Andrew Madlinger added 15 as the Polar Bears beat the Terriers in Waterville.
Jarrad DeVaughn had 25 points, while Franklin Salvadore added 20 points for Thomas. Stanley Greene Jr. added 19 and Martin Cleveland 10.
Southern Maine 56, Colby 44: Jeremy Jackson scored 14 points and Chris Pagentine added 13 to lead the Huskies in a nonconference game. Alex Kee chipped in with 11 points for USM as well.
Ben Foreman scored 12 points and Kyle Donovan added 10 to pace the Mules, who trailed just 31-28 at the half.
Women’s hockey
Holy Cross 4, Colby 0: Stacey Hochkins had a goal and three assists as the Crusaders beat the Mules in Worcester, Mass.
Francesca Panarelli added a goal and two assists for Holy Cross (15-1-2).
Brianne Wheeler had 21 saves for Colby (4-13-2).
Also Tuesday
Senior Margo Russell, a Madison native, matched her career high with 26 points to lead the University of New England women’s basketball team past Curry College 80-64 in a Coommonwealth Coast Conference game at Milton, Mass.
Russell had 17 of her points in the second half for the Nor’easters (15-4).
