AUGUSTA — Hall-Dale junior Sam Shepherd helped his team rally from a 10-point deficit against Madison late in the third quarter in the opening round of the Western Maine Class C tournament Monday night.
Shepherd connected on four of his six 3-pointers down the stretch, including two in the final three minutes, to lead Hall-Dale to a 74-68 win. Shepherd finished with a team-high 23 points to go with five blocked shots and six rebounds. Mike Woods added 16 points for the winners while Austin Bechard scored 13.
Madison’s Austin Kane scored a game-high 25 points while Dylan Price scored 12.
Lamont Flanders and Steven Lawrence each added 10 points. Hall-Dale (13-6) advances to play the winner of Monday night’s game between Sacopee Valley and Dirigo.
