I cannot understand how a thief like Paul Violette, who stole thousands from the Maine Turnpike Authority, gets to walk away with his pension intact. He got caught and took the Fifth Amendment, and then pleaded guilty. He should be dealt with as anyone else.
Yes, let him keep his pension, but he should pay back every cent he stole with that. Insurance companies should not have to pay for a thief’s crime.
Who really knows how much he stole or would have stolen had he not been caught? He needs to spend his five years in jail, but won’t. Whatever time he does, he will be treated like a celebrity.
