I am writing in support of marriage equality. I believe it is the right of all consenting adults to marry.

Marriage is an expression of commitment between loving adults who wish to share their lives and take on the responsibilities and rights that are inherent in societal marriage.

The current referendum language includes a religious exemption so that churches can opt out of marrying parishioners if there is a conflict of interest with doctrine. This protection should allay any concerns by churches who do not believe that everyone should have this right.

I urge everyone to vote for marriage equality this fall.
