BELGRADE — Elementary students were evacuated to the community center Friday afternoon after a report of a bomb threat at the school.
A state police dispatcher said the call came in at about 12:30 p.m. Belgrade Central School’s 350 students were brought by bus to the Belgrade Community Center for All Seasons on Route 27, where the parents picked them up.
The Regional School Unit 18 superintendent’s office said the children were all fine.
Maine State Police said school Principal Catherine Gordon called police after finding a note in the school Friday morning. No more information was released on where in the school the note was found.
The state police bomb squad brought in dogs to search the school building at 158 Depot St.
Depot Street, which connects to Route 27, was blocked at both ends for several hours after the report as state police and the officers from the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office, along with Belgrade fire and rescue, investigated at the scene.
There was no information Friday night on whether anything was found at the school.
