Say, who is this guy who wants to eliminate all state funds to the Maine Public Broadcasting Network? Oh yeah, it’s the same cultural philistine who took down the mural from the Labor Department office.

For some reason I’m reminded of former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft, who had drapes put on the statue of justice in Washington, D.C., no doubt because his baser male instincts were aroused indecently by her bare boobs. God help us all whenever Republican pols assume roles as critics of art and culture.

What in the world would happen if we were permitted full access to intelligent discourse, glorious music and beautiful art? Why, we’d probably elect smarter and more polite and more refined politicians. No wonder the current boss man wants to limit MPBN’s influence in Maine.
