CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Sophomore attackman Tennessee Peters scored a game-high four goals to lead the University of Maine at Farmington men’s lacrosse to a 15-3 win over Wheelock College on Wednesday.
Brandon Melville added two goals for UMF (1-4). Nathan Chase and Ben Altmaier each had two goals, while Jon-Michael Roy, Matt Roy, Jake Linkletter and David Grainer each had one. Jon-Michael Roy had three assists, while Nathan Chase and Matt Roy each had two, and Altmaier and Rylan Cates each had one.
Adam Russo had two goals for Wheelock (0-6).
Women’s lacrosse
Colby 20, Husson 0: The Mules rolled past the Eagles to start the season with seven consecutive wins for the first time in program history.
Tess Petesch had two goals and three assists to lead the sixth-ranked Mules (7-0), who led 12-0 at halftime. Claire Donegan added one goal and three assists, while Katie Griffin had three goals.
Michelle Burt made one save in the first half for the Mules and Claire Dickson stopped one shot in the second half in combining for the shutout. Kaleigh Morneau and Kayla Guerrette combined for four saves for Husson (2-5).
Softball
Salve Regina 3-2, UM-Farmington 2-1: The Seahawks pulled out a pair of close wins to take the doubleheader sweep over the Beavers in Newport, R.I.
In Game 1, Jen Cruver rapped a pair of hits, including a two-run single, for Salve Regina. Amy Jones singled, tripled and drove in both UMF (2-2) runs.
In Game 2, Marissa Simpson singled home Cruver in the seventh to lift Salve Regina (9-7) to the win. Lily Barry hit a triple in the loss.
