AUBURNDALE, Fla. — The University of Southern Maine baseball team scored nine runs in the fifth inning on its way to a 12-1 win over the University of Maine at Farmington on Thursday at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.

The Huskies (7-7) sent 14 batters to the plate in the fifth inning and had eight hits. Jake Glauser and John Carey each had a two-run triple in the inning, while Tucker White added a two-run single.

Winthrop High School graduate David Ricker had three singles for USM.

Jake MacVane had a double for UMF (1-5) and has hit safely in all six of the Beavers’ games this season.

Curry 7-5, UM-Farmington 2-0: Lily Barry had a single and a double in Game 1 and Shannon Mitchell had a pair of doubles in the second game, but the Beavers lost both games to the Colonels in Milton, Mass.

Kaitlyn Bartlett and Devin Fitzgerald each added a double in the first game for UMF (2-4).

In the first game, Chelsey Munsey had an RBI single in the third and fourth innings for Curry (13-7). In the second game, Caitlin Luquet had a single and a double.
