GARDINER — A leadership summit, “Flood Hazard Mitigation Seminar for Historic Buildings,” will take place from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 3 at Johnson Hall Performing Arts, 280 Water St.
Registration, with refreshments, will start at 8:30 a.m. and a catered lunch will be from 12:30 to1:30 p.m.
The program will include an overview of the National Flood Insurance Program floodplain management program and how it affects historic buildings, advice on protecting historic buildings in a floodplain, how subsidized flood insurance can protect historic structures and rehabilitation tax credits.
This event is hosted by the City of Gardiner Economic and Community Development, Gardiner Main Street, Maine Downtown Center, Kennebec Valley Council of Governments, Maine Floodplain Management Program and the Maine Historic Preservation Commission.
