MONMOUTH — Reen Kahl struck out 11batters and walked one in five innings to lead unbeaten Monmouth to a 13-3 win against Wiscasset on Monday in Mountain Valley Conference softball action.
Paxton Lessard relieved Kahl over the last two innings and the Monmouth pitchers allowed just one hit. Kahl led the Mustangs at the plate with a pair of doubles while Kylie Kemp and Daisy Poole each contributed two singles.
Monmouth is 5-0, Wiscasset is 2-4.
Richmond 15, Vinalhaven/North Haven 0: Leandra Martin pitched a one-hitter to lead the host Bobcats to the East-West Conference win in a game shortened to five innings due to the mercy rule.
Lindsy Hoopingarner led the offense with four singles and two RBIs for Richmond (5-0) while Sierra Lancaster had three singles and three RBIs. Danica Hurley added two singles and a triple and Brianna Snedeker and Jamie Plummer each had two singles. Martin struck out 11 and walked none.
Vinalhaven/North Haven falls to 1-3.
Messalonskee 5, Hampden 0: Necole Harrison had two-run single as the Eagles scored all of their runs in the six inning to earn the KVAC A win in Oakland.
Kylee Knight reached on an error, Emily York singled and Courtney Veilleux bunted her way on to load the bases.
Harrison then hit her single. Phoebe Pelletier followed with an RBI single and Harrison andPelletier both scored on the same pass ball. Kassie Michaud earned the pitching win for the Eagles (7-0), allowing four hits while striking out eight and not issuing a walk.
Hampden falls to 4-3.
Hall-Dale 15, Mt. Abram 7: The Bulldogs struck for nine runs in the top of the seventh inning to defeat the Roadrunners in Salem Township.
Meagan Cope, Morgan Rush, and Carylanne Wolfington each had two hits for Hall-Dale (4-2).
Jill Howard had two triples, and Alix Howard, Taylor Jordan, and Lily Taylor also had two hits apiece for Mt. Abram (2-4).
Oak Hill 16, Mt. View 4, 6 innings: Alexis Priest had a double and two singles to lead the Raiders to the KVAC B win in Wales.
Alyssa Rouleau added two doubles for Oak Hill (4-3) while Kortni Michaud had a double and a single and Sadie Goulet chipped in with two singles.
Alex Fowler tripled for Mt. View (0-8).
Maranacook 1, Oceanside 0: Sarah Boynton hit an RBI double in the fourth inning for the game’s only run to lead the Black Bears to the KVAC B win in Readfield.
Boynton also earned the win in the circle for Maranacook (5-2), allowing only two hits.
Skowhegan 13, Mt. Blue 0, 6 innings: Amanda Johnson combined with Kaitlyn Therriault on a three-hitter and also had three hits to lead the Indians to the KVAC A win in Farmington.
Shelby Obert and Johnson each finished with a double and two singles for Skowhegan (3-3) while Taylor Johnson had two singles.
Nicole Osborne, Taylor France and Lexi Howard each singled for the Cougars (1-6).
Winslow 5, Camden Hills 2: Gabby Languet and Megan Richards each had a double to lead the Black Raiders to the KVAC B win in Winslow.
Abby LeClair, Haley Pottle and Mariah Chenard each singled for Winslow (4-3).
Natalie Hamelainen singled twice and Abby White had an RBI for the Windjammers (2-5).
