WINDSOR — Three local residents were found dead Saturday after they apparently did some off-road riding and their Jeep became stuck in a bog.

One woman and two men, whom police were not identifying Saturday night because their families had not been notified, went four-wheeling and were last seen alive around 7 p.m. Friday.

Around 7:20 p.m. Saturday, their bodies were discovered in a Jeep about 300 yards off Crosby Road, according to Capt. Dan Davies of the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office.

The vehicle was stuck in a bog.

Davies said a preliminary investigation suggests the group may have been overcome by carbon monoxide poisoning in the vehicle. The Jeep had its roof on.

The victims had left to go off-roading Friday night after dinner in a bog that had been used for that purpose before, Davies said.

No further information about the deaths was available Saturday night.
