Classmates cover their ears as Robert Shaw fires his potato launcher that he and his father Chris Shaw built for the Ruby Team Science Fair and Invention Convention on Friday at Maranacook Middle School in Readfield. Taylor Anderson and his father Devin Anderson also built a launcher with the Shaws. There were 45 students in 6th, 7th and 8th grades participating in the event.
