The cost of fossil fuels is being felt in our weather, a cost not borne directly by the user, but passed on to all the life forms indiscriminateley.

Energy Star thinks an appliance is efficient at 86 percent. My hot-water heater from China is 240 percent efficient, yet only cost twice as much to buy.

We need to be responsible and pass a carbon tax. We do not need new highways; we need light electric rail on every highway and byway to every hamlet.

We are a nation of addicts. Death looms if we do not act.
