Steeplewright Robert Hanscom works high above Hallowell on the Cox Memorial Methodist Church on Friday morning. Hanscom was hired to remove the old steeple last fall. Friday he was back to prepare a base to put a replacement steeple that he is building at his shop in Greene. Hanscom didn’t have a date set yet, but said that a crane will be lifting the replacement back into place in a few weeks. The steeple of nearby First Baptist Church – Hallowell can be seen at top left.
