AUGUSTA — A logger and landowner have agreed to fines for violating logging laws in Franklin County’s Freeman Township, according to the Maine Forest Service.

Logging contractor John Korhonen of Livermore agreed to pay a $5,000 civil fine and landowner David Rasmussen $1,000.

The 50 acres of clearcut land violated the state’s Forest Practices Act for size, arrangement and management for clearcuts, according to the service.In addition to the fines, Rasmussen was required to write an forest management plan for the clearcut area.
