ORONO — Annabelle Hamilton scored on a penalty stroke with 58 seconds remaining as the University of Maine field hockey team beat Rutgers 2-1 Friday afternoon.

Maine was awarded the penalty stroke because a shot by Abbey Gutowski hit the body of Rutgers’ Laura Rose.

Rutgers took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Cornelia Duffin 12:20 into the first half. Maine tied it on a goal by Zoe Adkins with 22:13 left in the second half.

Women’s soccer

Dartmouth 3, Maine 1: Emma Brush had two goals as the Big Green beat the Black Bears in Orono.

Chrissy Lozier also scored, while Corey Delaney had two assists for Dartmouth.

Eve L’Abbe had the lone goal of the game for Maine (3-3-0).

Volleyball

Colby 3, UM-Farmington 0, Colby 3, Gordon 0: Natalie Roy and Kate Pleasants lifted the Mules to a pair of sweeps in Waterville.

Colby beat UMF 25-17, 25-17 and 25-6 then beat Gordon 25-6, 25-21 and 25-9.

Roy had a team-high seven kills and nine defensive digs against UMF. She served 11 straight points at one point in the third set. She also had nine kills, 10 digs and three aces against Gordon.

Pleasants had 26 digs and six assists against Gordon.
