VASSALBORO — Defending Class C state champion St. Dominic of Auburn defeated Winthrop 61⁄2-1⁄2 for the Mountain Valley Conference golf championship Monday on the Arrowhead Course at Natanis Golf Course. Zach DeBlois of St. Dom’s was medalist with 37 and joined his teammates in posting a four-person score of 161. Winthrop shot a team score of 180.

GED test replacement deadline approaching
SKOWHEGAN — The current version of the General Educational Development test will expire at the end of 2013, according to Patte Bowman, adult and community education director at School Administrative District 54. The current version, known as the 2002 Series GED test, will be replaced Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2014.
