WASHINGTON, D.C. — Inland Hospital was recently honored with an “A” Hospital Safety Score by The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit run by employers and other large purchasers of health benefits. The grade was calculated under the guidance of The Leapfrog Group’s Blue Ribbon Expert Panel using publicly available data on patient injuries, medical and medication errors and infections. U.S. hospitals were assigned an A, B, C, D, or F for their safety with A being the best.

UMF names George J. Mitchell Peace scholar
FARMINGTON — The University of Maine at Farmington recently announced Chiaping Wen, a UMF senior from Norway, majoring in interdisciplinary studies, with a concentration in international and global studies, was selected as a 2012 George J. Mitchell Peace Scholar. Recently honored at a UMF International and Global Studies celebration, Wen received one of only two single-semester Mitchell Peace Scholarships awarded annually by the University of Maine System.
