The seven hospitals in Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems lost a total of $4 million in interest they would have earned on savings that were used to cover operating expenses in their most recent fiscal year. A story on page A1 Wednesday explained the loss incorrectly.

Artist gives back to community

FARMINGTON — Angela Ferrari, a studio artist based out of Portland, recently donated six acrylic-on-canvas portraits of dogs to the Franklin County Animal Shelter to help their fundraising efforts, according to a press release.

POPS thanks Camden National for 10 years

KINGFIELD — The Camden National Bank has played an important role in the founding and support of the Kingfield POPS. Camden National personnel headed the group which planned and held the first POPS concert in 2003. The organization hoped that POPS would be an important boost to the local economy.

Healthy Community Coalition receives grant

FARMINGTON — MaineHealth was recently awarded a grant of $2,425,220 for improving physical activity and eating habits and decreasing tobacco use in seven rural Maine counties. Healthy Community Coalition of Greater Franklin County, an affiliate of Franklin Community Health Network will serve as the fiscal and project lead for the Franklin County team.
