PARRIS ISLAND, S.C. — Private Garret Edward Fortier recently graduated from the U.S. Marine Corps at Parris Island, S.C.

He will report to North Carolina for four weeks of training and then report to Missouri for eight weeks of training.

He is a 2011 Skowhegan Area High School graduate.

Fortier is the son of Veronica Fortier of Skowhegan and the late James Henry Billings.

Grandparents are Sgt. Terrence E. Fortier USMC and Nancy Fortier, both of Skowhegan, and Dennis and Janice Walton of South Paris.
