NORRIDGEWOCK — A Fairfield man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault after a stabbing outside a home early Sunday on Bigelow Hill Road.

Joshua Cummings, 27, of Fairfield, allegedly stabbed Joshua Marx, 34, of Norridgewock, with a large pocket knife several times in the back about 3 a.m. Sunday, according to a news release from Detective Lt. Carl Gottardi of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department.

Both men were taken to Redington-Fairview General Hospital, where they were treated and released Sunday. Cummings had a few cuts and scrapes and was taken later to the Somerset County Jail, said Gottardi.

The incident is being investigated by the district attorney and more charges could follow, he said.
