KINGFIELD — Police have arrested one man and are considering charging another in connection with the robbery of a general store in June.

Kaleb Bowring, 20, of Madison, and Matthew Santamore, 22, of Vassalboro, confessed to police Monday to robbing Tranten’s Too of about $800 in cash that they split between themselves, according to police. Both men are being held at the Somerset County Jail, where they are serving sentences for other convictions, according to a news release from Sheriff Scott R. Nichols, of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department.

Bowring admitted to committing the actual robbery with a pellet gun while Santamore acted as an accomplice and drove the car the men escaped in after the robbery, Nichols said.

Bowring was arrested and charged with class A robbery and is being held in lieu of $10,000 cash bail, Nichols said. He is in jail for a conviction in a break-in at the Irving Gas Station in Norridgewock that also took place in June, Nichols said.

Charges against Santamore are pending, Nichols said. He is in jail on a charge of a probation violation, he said.

The two men were living at a campsite in Embden when the robbery took place June 18, Nichols said.
