I want to respond to the letter by James P. Wood on June 24, “Renters pay their share of property tax, too.”

I think owning a house is a lot more expensive than renting, what with all the repairs one has to do to a house when things break down or it sustains storm damage or whatever.

I have been on both ends of the spectrum. In the Army, I got a living allowance, that was a blessing.
