Children advocate training in August
AUGUSTA — Thousands of children are currently under the protection of the Maine child welfare system. These children are in state care because of allegations of abuse and neglect. Each of these children has an adult assigned to them by the court, sometimes called a Court Appointed Special Advocate. The advocate’s job is to conduct an investigation and advise the court on what is in that child’s best interest, according to a news release.
