I would like to come out of my so-called writer’s retirement to comment on my son George’s column about aging (“Problems of aging get personal for all of us baby boomers,” July 31).

George writes about the approaching age of 65 as a time he would be a senior. Actually 65, though not the prime time of life, is an age many of us come to realize the value of life and begin to appreciate it.

When George reaches 90 as I have and has to give up his chain saw and rely on others to do the things he has always done, then he can sit down and write about it. I hope I am around to read it!
