AUGUSTA — Abreal Whitman, 12, of Augusta, will perform at Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras’ Repertory Orchestra 56th season opening concert on Sunday, Oct. 13, at Symphony Hall.

Abreal is homeschooled and also attends Cony High School in Augusta. She is the daughter of Randy Whitman and Stacey Carrier-Whitman.

Abreal is a violin player. She will travel to Boston for rehearsals

Chapman graduates basic training

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Army National Guard Pvt. Sarah J. Chapman has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia.

Chapman is the daughter of Cathy and Corey Chapman of West Gardiner. She is a 2012 graduate of Gardiner Area High School.
